Barcelona preparing big-money raid for Ajax star Frenkie de Jong
Blaugrana are big admirers of the 21-year-old midfielder, who has emerged as one of the most promising talents in European football.
Reportedly, the La Liga giants could come up with a bid in the region of €40m for his services this summer.
Following talks between the Barcelona board and coach Ernesto Valverde post-season, De Jong was identified as a key target though negotiations have yet to begin over any potential transfer.
Indeed, Ajax Sporting Director Marc Overmars recently went on record to say that the club wants the former Willem II youth product to stay in Amsterdam.
The Dutch club don’t necessarily need to sell the midfield man just yet, having allowed 19-year-old forward Justin Kluivert to join Roma.
In the coming days, Barca are also set to conclude deals for Sevilla star Clement Lenglet and finally get Arthur’s protracted move from Gremio over the line.
So far, only Gerard Deulofeu has left Camp Nou, with the winger joining Watford, meaning that they would have to trim the squad further in other areas.
